5 Cheap Fantasy Football Midfielders To Watch
Xherdan Shaqiri
Price: £6.5
Club: Stoke City
Shaqiri didn't fully impress last season and so has flown slightly under the radar this year. However, don't forget how exciting Stoke's front line actually is. If Shaqiri were to maintain some form and continues to score goals like he did at the weekend and in the Euro's then he is very cheap at £6.5. He is likely to be played in most games and has genuine quality. It remains to be seen whether he can maintain a run of form but he may be worth the risk.
Andros Townsend
Price: £6.5
Club: Crystal Palace
Townsend didn't score any real points in his first game for Palace but he did have some chances. With the exception of Spurs, Townsend has been very successful everywhere he goes. He scores goals regularly and if he can finally get himself a run in a team, he will earn points and for £6.5 he is a bargain. We don't know as yet whether he can do it for a club that isn't on the verge of being relegated though.
Philippe Coutinho
Price: £8
Club: Liverpool
Perhaps an obvious one but he is actually quite cheap. He will be on everyone's radar anyway because of his first game week performance against Arsenal. His issue is that he too often gets inured but when Coutinho is on it, he is absolutely fantastic and when he plays for Klopp he seems to find the net. If he stays fit, Coutinho will be a fantasy team must.
Erik Lamela
Price £7
Club: Tottenham Hotspur
Since Lamela's arrival to the Premier League, he has failed to really make an impact. What you can say is that he has improved year on year. Spurs are always a difficult team to predict but you feel that they have got something good with Pochetino. It's a bit of a gamble but this may just be the year Lamela comes to the forefront. At £7 he will make a fantastic deal.
Nathan Redmond
Price: £6
Club: Southampton
He was already a good shout for your fantasy team even before it emerged that he will essentially be playing as a striker. Redmond is always dangerous and should become even more so for a team of a slightly higher quality than Norwich. He has a host of chances in his opening games and the saints may well look to him for their goals. For his price, he may well be a real bargain.
