Will this season be a repeat?

Think about it. Have a look at the general consensus for who will win the titles this season and who won the titles last season.

Premier League Holders: Chelsea
Premier League Favourites: Chelsea

While Chelsea haven't strengthened. No teams below them have strengthened enough to surpass Chelsea's squad. Manchester United have done the best job but failed to replace their defenders and could yet lose De Gea. Manchester City have spent too much time and money on bringing in English players and I question Pellegrini's ability as a coach. Arsenal need everyone to stay fit if they want to actually challenge Chelsea. This Chelsea side will remain the same which means the rest of the their rivals need to find 10-15 points, something they really haven't done yet in the transfer window.

Bundesliga Holders: Bayern Munich
Bundesliga Favourites: Bayern Munich

No one can touch Bayern. They are far too powerful and the Bundesliga is not strong enough. Wolfsburg will have another good season as will a few others but I think the resurgence of Borussia Dortmund will push them the furthest. They could have been ambushed in the transfer window after a poor season but they have managed to keep onto their best players, for the time being anyway. Klopp may be gone but this is a sign that they expect big things this season, or at least better.

La Liga Holders: Barcelona
La Liga Favourites: Barcelona

You can't see Barcelona at the moment, their front three are simply too good. If they continue in this form it is hard to see how they will be beaten. Of course, the Madrid teams will put up a good fight but at this point many will be surprised if this Barcelona squad fail to impress this season.

Ligue 1 Holders: PSG
Ligue 1 Favourites: PSG

With the signing of Angel Di Maria, PSG have strengthened a title winning squad. Their focus will be the Champions League but the other teams in the French league just can't cope with their firepower and financial backing.

Serie A Holders: Juventus
Serie A Favourites: Juventus

Having lost some important players, Juventus have still managed to put together a title winning side. Khediera and Dybala should be worth replacements for the departed Tevez and Vidal. Apart from anything else, even with out these players their squad is superior to their league rivals.

Champions League Holders: Barcelona
Champions League Favourites: Barcelona

It is actually quite rare that there is a team that will be unanimously considered favourites, especially when it comes to the Champions League but it seems this is that team, until their form drops or key players get injured it is hard to see this team ever losing.

So what does this mean?

We could realistically end up with precisely the same results as last season come the end of this season. This is partly the effect that money has had on the game but more of the rare state that the game is at the moment. Should we be worried that the game is losing it's predictability? No, of course not. Some of these leagues do have a worrying lack of competitiveness but teams teams will always have something to aspire too. More and more money will pour into the game to eventually level out the playing field again. Plus, come the end of the season it's highly unlikely every prediction will be correct.
