UEFA Best Player Award TOP 3 announced

From a shortlist of 10 players, UEFA have now narrowed their 'Best Player' down to just three.

So I named the three that I would pick here ---> UEFA BEST PLAYER: THE CANDIDATES - MY TOP 3

If you click the link you will see that I was almost right. But to be honest, I don't disagree with their decision. 

The three are:

Lionel Messi

Messi scored two free kicks in the Super Cup final last night to solidify his campaign to be named the UEFA Best Player. After a rocky start is has been another illustrious season for Messi as he continues to break down the walls of what we think is possible.

Cristiano Ronaldo

He didn't make my final three simply due to Hazard creating so many more chances and winning a title. However, it can't be taken away from the Portuguese star who is undoubtedly in the top three if you judge it on their ability alone. 

Luis Suarez

Suarez also scored in the Super Cup final last night and assisted the other goal, keeping up his excellent contribution to goals for the Barcelona team. 

Who will win?

I think the world is in agreement that Lionel Messi should take the crown this year. He matches Ronaldo for goals contributed from last season if you include goals and assists and ultimately has the treble to show for his work. Had their performances been the same, but Real Madrid won the treble, then Ronaldo would be the one to win it. However, this means someone from the Real Madrid team probably would have stepped up and so would be in the running themselves, just like Neymar and Suarez.
