Ross Barkley: How Good Is he?

Just how good is Ross Barkley? Well he has started the season very well. In fact he has contributed to more goals this season than he did for the entirety of last season. I don't want to become with one of those who tip a young England player for success as soon as I see them have a good game but I think it is a time for a closer look for this player regardless of his nationally he currently holding a key to greatness.

I want to profile him because we know we are potentially dealing with a very good player in Ross Barkley. We have seen glimpses of it before and that is why Roberto Martinez slapped a £60million price tag on him (although that is a bit excessive).

He is 6ft 2inches which means he is tall, strong and powerful, but crucially he is technically very good and very assured on the ball, something that a lot of taller players are not. His decision making is improving and his greatest attribute has to be his pace and his shooting.

His main weaknesses has been his consistency. He hasn't produced it over and over again, and can often go missing in games. While he is playing well at the moment, he could well be forgotten by the end of the season.

However, the attributes he does show is the reason for writing this post because he simply has it all. He can improve his tackling, his decision making and work rate but he is already a fantastic all round player and one that will only get better.

He will be the key player for Everton this year and so far has been the difference in the first two games. If he continues to perform, Everton will no doubt make a real challenge for those top four spots and if that is the case then he will be subject to much speculation in the future.

For now he has to focus and work hard. I'm sure he has worked hard to get to where he is at the moment but he has also been blessed with a natural athletic ability and if he really wants it, then he can go onto great things. Everton is the perfect place for him to showcase his talents and really take his career to the next level and, of course, this can only be good news for England.
