Is Sterling a good buy?

The name on every bodies lips. Is Raheem Sterling a good buy? Lets make it simple, for the money, no not really, but ultimately yes. They aren't spending my money anyway.

Sterling is a good player and it is crazy how young he still is. It is obvious that he plays best when the players around him are of a higher quality, this is supposedly what he is actually looking for at Manchester City and I think he is right to an extent. To be fair a great player should stand out no matter what, but there is no doubt that Sterling should look better while playing along side Aguero, Silva and whoever else may turn up at City this transfer window.

In this day and age English players always cost a lot of money so maybe the price tag isn't that ridiculous. Here you have one of the better players of the Premier League who is only 20 years old, if he performs week in week out for the next 15 years then his price tags become a steal. If he really steps it up a gear then perhaps a profitable offer could come in for a Spanish giant (although lets not imagine a future where the Premiership becomes a feeder league to Barca & Real)..

However, he is not the best player in the Premier League or the best in their squad. He hasn't proved he will be either, this type of money should be reserved for the truly great players and the marquee signings. Sterling isn't that, Pogba would probably be that. Also, Sterling wanted out of Liverpool and when it came to it, it seemed City was the only viable choice, maybe they wanted him as early as possible but I think they could have got him for a cheaper price. Ultimately Liverpool weren't going to keep a player if he really, really didn't want to be there.

That all being said I go back to my original point. Sterling is a good player, one who is likely to get better. I think City will play him and I think he will do well. Since the money comes from the pockets of the owners I don't think fans should worry too much about the price tag as it shouldn't effect any other transfers that City make. When all is said and done I think he is a strong addition to their side.

Some 'best of Sterling' below.
